We began by immersing ourselves in Henry’s body of work and discussing the challenges he faced in communicating his artistic mission. His practice is rich and experimental — but with so many layers, his story often became difficult for audiences to grasp.

That insight shaped our direction: the website needed to balance clarity with expression. It had to make Henry’s ideas accessible without oversimplifying them, creating a platform that was both professional and true to his creative spirit.

First Ideas

In the early sketches, we focused on putting Henry’s paintings at the forefront. Wireframes, color swatches, and typography tests helped us imagine a site where the work could speak first — bold, immediate, and unfiltered.

Style & Design

The creative process was playful and exploratory, at times even challenging, as Henry brought many ideas to the table. Together we drew inspiration from Byzantine art and the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi — the beauty of intentional imperfections. From this exploration, a hand-lettered font emerged as a key element, adding warmth and playfulness while still fitting into a clean, structured layout.

The paintings remained the focus, taking center stage on the site. To support them, we introduced subtle background textures: a fine grain overlay combined with soft pastel gradients. This balance kept the structure minimal, while the details carried Henry’s experimental, human touch.
